Style Icon: The All American Girl

In honor of July 4th, I dedicated this week’s “Style Icon” to the American Girl. The American Girl has always been a part of American culture. From pinup girls to pop stars, we’ve always been bombarded by images of sexy blonde women that looked like the “girl next door”. Let’s take a trip down memory lane…
Before she became Marilyn Monroe, Norma Jean was one of the first popular pinup girls of her time.

Farrah Fawcett embodied the “All American girl” in the 70’s.

Model, Bobbie Brown was the face for Warrant’s video, “Cherry Pie” in the 80’s.

Pamela Anderson was one of the reasons that guys loved Baywatch in the 90’s.

Heather Graham was the face for Lenny Kravitz’s unforgettable “American Woman” music video.

Madonna’s “American Pie” song and music video was on constant air play.

Fresh faced pop starlets such as Britney Spears and Jessica Simpson were loved by men, young and old.

And lastly, Christina Aguilera transformed herself into a pinup for her “Back to Basics” album.

But of course you don’t have to look super sexy or blonde to have your own American Girl look. You can rock your own American Girl look in these easy and affordable ways.
