Top 10 Things Shoppers Need
![]()
I compiled this list of things (and traits) shoppers need to bring with them. As someone who’s worked in retail, I’ve come across all kinds people with all kinds of flaws. So with the coming Christmas season, I think this list is a “must have”. It’s pretty straight forward and obvious, but people still lack in these areas. Print it out and put it in your purses! Shopping should be fun and if you’re rude or angry, do you think you really deserve to get what you want?
1. Respect: Never bring your personal problems with you and never get irate at a sales associate. They’re people too and they can’t “cure” your problems, nor are they there to. And respect the store by picking up after yourself in the dressing room and sales floor. Salespeople are NOT your maids!
2. Coupons: Remember to bring your coupons because salespeople usually don’t have extras on hand. So don’t waste time making up excuses like, “I left mine in the car,” or “My dog ate them.” We’re not handing in homework assignments! Either grab a flier at the store entrance or be sure to put your coupons in your wallet the day before shopping.
3. Cash, not credit: It’s best to bring cash with you shopping, so you have a limit on how much to spend. Credit cards will make you spend more than you intended on. (A common mistake made by many people.) And always say, “NO” to a store charge card. The high interest fees won’t make up nicely for all those purchases you made.
4. A Shopping List: Along with cash, write a list of stuff you NEED. That way, you’re only there to look for certain things and you won’t become too tempted to buy more.

5. A Calculator: Bring one with you so that you can figure out what 25% off a $89.99 dress would be. Don’t waste the cashier and other shoppers’ time by asking how much each item is. You’re likely to find a calculator on your cell phone so learn to use it! (There was a reason why we took math in school!)
6. Friends, not Boyfriends: I’ve seen way too many depressed men out shopping with their significant others. They look like lost sheep! Just because he’s your best friend doesn’t mean he’ll like to go shopping with you. Instead, bring a girl friend or your sister along. It’ll be way more fun and they’ll give an honest opinion of how you really look in that top.

7. Comfortable Shoes: I don’t know how women can walk around in high heels, espeically at the mall. I understand that you want to look good, but there are plenty of cute and comfy shoes to wear. Plus, you won’t be so dragged down and grouchy at the end of the day.
8. No Kids: You don’t need them! They’ll just end up whining, complaining, and you’ll end up going home without buying anything. You’ll be too busy yelling at them to look for anything. Either leave them with your parents, or hire a babysitter. Then you’ll have a relaxing day where you can “treat” yourself.

9. Food: Never go shopping hungry and irritable. Make sure to eat before hand or to take a break and eat at the food court. Then do the rest of your shopping later.
10. Patience: As the saying goes, “Patience is a virtue,” so know that other shoppers will be out, especially if you go on the weekends. There is no reason or excuse to get huffy while waiting in line. Either go shopping during the week days, early mornings, or late at night if you’re an impatient person.
