Style Icon: Jem
Continuing on with the 80’s theme from yesterday, I wanted to nominate Jem for my Style Icon of the week. She came onto the scene and kicked Barbie’s butt with her band, Jem and the Holograms. (Later on, Barbie and the Rockers came out.) There was hit songs, TV shows, movies, merchandise, dolls and more. She proved to girls out there that you can be whoever you want to be, and you don’t have to do it in a sexual way. (Like some conservatists view Barbie.) Jem was truly “outrageous”. You can create your own crazy look by selecting a few pieces, or by wearing them all together if you’re really courageous. It’s even a good idea for Halloween coming up!
