TO LAUNCH ONLINE AUCTION OF COUTURE ORIGINALS

KCET, public television for Southern and Central California, is the recipient of a unique gift: the personal collection of Cardinali couture clothing donated by its creator Marilyn Lewis. With 85 garments in the collection, the gift spans the designer’s
incredible fashion career, which captured the attention of trendsetters for more than a decade. On November 2, at 7:00 p.m. PT, the donated collection will be auctioned online, with proceeds to benefit KCET. At 9:00 p.m. KCET premieres The House of
Cardinali, a one-hour program showcasing 85 pieces from the donated collection, available for bidding through November 12 at www.kcet.org/cardinali.
Featuring commentary by designer Marilyn Lewis and hosted by Todd Newton (motivational speaker and former E! host), The House of Cardinali features a retrospective fashion show from 2005 of selections from the donated collection, including diaphanous
silks, signature Cardinali tweeds and couture gowns with hand beading. Also, among the designs are original pieces made famous by Marlo Thomas in That Girl and the dress worn by Dyan Cannon on her first date with Cary Grant. In addition to being
broadcast on KCET, the special will be available for viewing online. The House of Cardinali is a KCET production. Producer is Caroline Armitage. Director is Jonathan X. Executive Producer is Bohdan Zachary.
The Cardinali fashion house dressed Hollywood’s elite,including Marlo Thomas, the darling of the 1960s hit series That Girl – putting Cardinali at the center of the fashion world. From coast-to-coast in the best social circles, well-heeled women wore
Cardinali. Critics hailed Lewis’ designs as avant-garde and truly original. The collection was in the windows of Bergdorf Goodman, Bonwit Teller, Saks Fifth Avenue and the Beverly Hills Cardinali boutique. Marilyn Lewis was prominently featured in
numerous top fashion publications, including Vogue, Women’s Wear Daily, and The New York Times. Lewis made an indelible mark on the fashion world and her creations continue to influence today’s top fashion designers.
The auction, which is being managed by Auction Cause, will run Monday, November 2 at 7:00 p.m. PST through Thursday, November 12. Auction Cause will also be available to answer questions about the garments or the auction: 323-655-0554.
