Ask the Guru: Garden Party Engagement

Dear Guru:

I received an invitation to a garden engagement party at the Tuscan Gardens on Sunday, September 4th.  I have a black sweater, a pink, fuschia and white floral dress, and a required picture hat. I rarely wear dresses because I have unsightly veins all over my legs that no makeup can cover.  Is it improper for me wear black toeless leggings with open toe sandals? I really don’t have a better alternative.

Dear Camille:

I’ll be honest and say that toeless leggings will not look good with a day or evening dress. Instead, save those leggings with a tunic. Instead, wear opaque black pantyhose with closed toe pumps.

If you want to wear your open-toe shoes, then I would suggest looking for toeless tights. Many retail, lingerie and specialty stores carry them. Good luck and have fun this weekend!
