glominerals Spends a Week With Marilyn!!!

We all know Marilyn Monroe for her fabulous style and creative makeup techniques.  From her first screen test to her infamous “Mr. President” performance, Marilyn will forever have that special glo. With the release of “My Week With Marilyn,” glominerals makeup artist, Kate McCarthy felt inspired, and Voilà – Marilyn’s look is recreated using products from glominerals!

In order to achieve Marilyn’s glo look, try the following:

  1. Layer Eye Shadows in Diamond and Opal onto the entire eyelid. Keep diamond in the inner corner of the eye. The eye should be kept shimmery white! Lightly contour the eye with eye shadow in Twig for that light sexy eye.
  2. Apply a thick line of Cream Eyeliner in Black to the lash line and make a “micro” cat-eye. Keep lower lash line clean, so that the glamorous “cat-eye” is in full effect!
  3. Apply Blush in Sandalwood to the apples of the cheek to create that baby-doll 40’s feel.
  4. Lastly, load up those perky lips with Lipstick in Vixen and you’ll become that stunning-goddess, just like Marilyn!

Top Ten Halloween Costume Trends for 2011

This Halloween, it’s more of the same. Don’t look for anything spooky or sexy to be on this list. Instead, people are looking to music and movies for their costume inspirations!

1. Steampunk

Have no idea what Steampunk is? Think of Sherlock Holmes or the League of Extraordinary Gentleman. Instead, it has a little more attitude and grit.

2. Throwback Games

Old games, such as Twister and Operation, will be popular costume choices. Just watch out for trick-or-treaters that may want to step on you!

3. The Wild Ones

Whether your big or small, animal costumes are hot! Be as cute or scary as you want.

4. Modern-Day Vampires

You can blame Twilight, True Blood and Vampire Diaries for this trend. Vampires continue to be a hot commodity for Halloween time.

5. 1980s Comeback Costumes

Think Madonna or Cyndi Lauper. Throw in a little Duran Duran if you want!

6. Jersey Shore

With the growing popularity of this reality show, it’s no surprise that this is a hot choice for Halloween.

7. Greek Goddess

Bleach your maxi dress from the summer, and wear it as a Greek goddess costume!

8. Lady Gaga

Lady Gaga’s crazy outfits always make the best Halloween costumes. Now you have more choices with her infamous “meat dress” and “Jo Calderone” costumes.

9. Blockbuster Inspired Costumes

Hit 3D movies such as Avatar and Alice in Wonderland are hot choices this month.

10. Superhero Costumes

With summer movies such as XMen and the Green Lantern, it’s no wonder everyone wants to be a superhero.
